In the early 1960s, while walking through Barcelona, Miguel Milá came across an opaline globe abandoned near a glass factory. He decided to take it in, beginning a journey of exploration around the objet trouvé that would place this humble element at the heart of a large and diverse family.
Clear in its intentions, Cesta—Spanish for basket—is a living expression of its designer's convictions. As Miguel Milá used to say, "what an object needs to become a classic is a good idea and a simple execution." Rationality and artisanal heritage come together in this pursuit of simplicity. From the desire to elevate the globe—in either of its two standard sizes—emerged a series of structures that embrace it, giving a single form a variety of functions.
