For most of its history, Cadaqués could only be reached by sea or by a winding mountain pass. And still, Cadaqués became an unlikely meeting point for artists and intellectuals during the second half of the twentieth century. Perhaps the difficulty of getting there was part of its charm.

Joan Ponç (1927–1984), co-founder of the Dau al Set movement and a central figure in Catalan avant-garde painting, built and lived in this house, in the street that today bears his name. Guests of his would include Duchamp, Man Ray, and Dalí.

In 2016, his son and daughter-in-law transformed the residence into a hotel, with interiors by Barcelona studio Conti, Cert, determined to keep the original 1952 structure and the spirit that inhabited it: rounded corners and natural materials, following Rudolf Steiner’s principles.

Six Santa & Cole lamps light the library lounge, courtyards, bar, and thirteen bedrooms with wood, parchment, ribbon, and opal glass.
