The starting point is almost nothing: a continuous Catalan vaulted ceiling, white walls, an open plan. Before this blank canvas, Marc Morro designed a single wood structure that runs the length of the apartment, giving each area its place. The piece starts as cabinetry between the kitchen and the living room, becomes the platform the sofa sits on, and ends as a bookcase acting as room divider, and raised platform that lifts the bedroom above the rest. Very quiet, very pragmatic.

What brings this apartment to life is color and light. Six Santa & Cole lamps mark the different zones: HeadHat Bowl’s ceramic shades over the dining table, La Colilla in the corridor that links and reveals each separate scene, Nagoya in the bedroom, TMM, Asa, and Cestita through the rest. And then, against all that white and wood, primary colors — red, blue, green — loud on purpose.
