More About Our Neoseries
Discover what they consist of, their purpose and the meticulous technique used to accurately reproduce the original works.
What are Neoseries?
Neoseries are Santa & Cole’s art editions. Unlike traditional graphic works, they start from an original work reproduced in the same size, color, and even texture, faithful enough to carry the same emotion as the piece they come from.
Are they limited series?
No, Neoseries are numbered and certified, but not limited. They are produced on demand, so there is no stock: the same number of works produced is the number sold. This way, enjoying a work is no longer restricted to owning a unique piece or finding a spot in a limited run, opening access to art at a different price point. Artists, in turn, are compensated through royalties, the same model used for our book and design editions.
What is the technique?
The original work is scanned in 3D to capture its relief with precision, while thousands of panoramic photographs record the most accurate color possible. This produces a digital file that is then transferred to the most suitable medium, primarily cotton paper. Different printing techniques and supports are combined case by case, always matching the technique the artist used in the original. The result reproduces even the texture of the reference work.
Can Neoseries be acquired already framed?
Being on paper makes Neoseries easier and safer to ship. If a client wants framing, Santa & Cole can advise and help arrange it. In cities where we have a Galería santa & Cole, such as Barcelona, New York or Mexico City, framing can be commissioned directly through the them, using local suppliers that meet our standards.
How do you select which artists participate?
We select the artists and works we like, following the same criteria Santa & Cole has applied to its design editions for the last 40 years. We look for works that don’t follow trends, that evoke something positive, and that we believe can improve everyday life. To keep that line consistent, we have an Editorial Committee, a group of people who discuss and look after what defines us.
Why did you open a location in Mexico City?
Galería Santa & Cole in Mexico City was born from the enthusiasm of Díez Company, our long-time lighting partner there. They believed in the project enough to step outside their specialty and offer their clients another form of illumination: art. The Galería Santa & Cole in Mexico City was opened in partnership with them in a beautiful location in Polanco, at Campos Elíseos, 158. Beyond the exhibitions, our presence in the city makes it possible to bring art into the same contract projects where Díez Company is already working with lighting.
What type of client is the project aimed at?
On one hand, there are private clients who find in in the Neoseries a more accessible way into art: certified, high-quality pieces without a collector’s budget. In the case of our Museum Neoseries, it is likely the only way to own an authentic edition of artists like Rubens, Caravaggio, or Velázquez.
On the other hand, Neoseries are a perfect solution for contract projects. They fill the gap between an original work, for which there is rarely a budget, and a print or poster. Hotels have been an obvious fit: Neoseries bring quality art into the rooms while original works take the common areas. For this type of project, we offer a free art consultancy service, and our team works with the client to build a proposal around their needs.
