Sílvia Martínez Palou
Silvia Martínez Palou is noted for moving between plastic art and architecture. Having trained in both disciplines, the Barcelona artist collaborates in both architectural projects and their interpretation. She masters the technique of engraving in which she presents her works, which have been exhibited in several European galleries.
The nexus between a work of architecture and the images that represent it has existed for over two centuries. The use of similar strategies intertwine reality and representation to lay bare a building’s essence, its aura.
This book exemplifies that nexus, bringing together the works of Silvia Martínez-Palou and photographs taken by Francesc Català-Roca of the same architecture. His vision, used as an instrument for the geometric abstraction of the buildings, helps us to explore the plastic potential they contain. They generate compositions that are, in the end, more faithful to the vision of the artist that has created them than the space itself they are inspired by. From a sublime compositional pattern emerges an infinite geometric fabric.
