Christopher John Rogers’ concept of fashion requires to be understood in its context. Seeking to create that environment, Barcelona based Sauras + Garriga studio has designed a set that reinterprets the essence of the earliest fashion shows in a contemporary way, with models appearing through velvet curtains and walking under a majestic central element, the Cirio pendant light by Santa & Cole.
Embracing seemingly contradictory elements, glamour fuses with the pragmatic as a contemporary interpretation of what it means to dress with daring elegance. With this notion, it is important that the atmosphere of the show embodies a declarative idea of what it truly means to be elegant – and do so in an environment that blends a theatrical and architectural experience.
Such scenography requested a lighting component that would achieve the desired effect. “We showed Chris the Spanish lighting brand Santa & Cole whose values of passion for detail, craftmanship and beauty of simplicity we identified with” says Garriga.
Cirio pendant light was designed in 2010 as a reinterpretation of circular lights at the Blue Mosque of Istambul and its lampshades are individually handmade porcelain pieces that glow as candles.
