David Karásek was born in Brno, 1969, and studied at the School of Applied Arts of Brno, specializing in Product Design. In 1994 he graduated from the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design of Prague. A designer of urban elements and other products for public spaces, together with Radek Hegmon he founded mmcité, a company devoted to the design and production of urban elements. Many of these elements have been installed in different countries of Europe, such as the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany and Portugal.

He has received different awards including the Crystal Pyramid from the Design Centre of the Czech Republic in the Excellent Design category in 1992, the Excellent Product of the Year, Excellent Design 2005, together with Radek Hegmon and the National Design Award of the Czech Republic together with Radek Karásek, Petr Babák and Tomás Machek in 1996.
