Angela Gori

Angela Gori was born in 1957, graduated in architecture from the Istituto Universitario of Venice in 1984, and in 1985, also in architecture, from the Politecnico in Milan. In 1990, she registered in the COAC, the Association of Catalan Architects.

Gori started her professional career collaborating with architects Alessandro Ferrari (1984-87), Emilio Donato (Barcelona, 1987-90), and Gae Aulenti & Enrique Steegman Asociados (Barcelona, 1990-96). When she was at the Gae Aulenti & Enrique Steegman studio, Gori supervised many construction sites, such as the remodeling project of the Palau Nacional de Montjuïc (National Palace of Montjuic, Barcelona). This palace, built by Enric Catà, Pedro Cendoya and Pere Domènech, was the main building of the International Exposition of 1929, and became the National Museum of Art of Catalonia in 1990. That same year, Gae Aulenti's studio started its restoration project in order to transform it into a great museum and cultural complex. It also included the Preventive Restoration and Conservation Center, the Documentation and Investigation Center, and the Promotion and Public Projection Center, thus becoming one of the major museum spaces in Europe.

In 1996, Gori set up her own studio, focusing mainly on projects to remodel buildings for a new use, houses, public spaces, private garden areas, and on urban elements design. On her own, Gori has built and remodeled private livings in Barcelona s district the Eixample, in Milan, Florence, Lleida, Valldoreix (Barcelona), and Portbou (Girona). She is also the coauthor, with Bernardo de Sola and Fernando Ruiz La Casa, of the pre-project of adaptation of Miramar s Palace in San Sebastian into a Superior Music Conservatory. Also, with Bernardo de Sola and other architects, she has taken on the project of connecting Parma s northern way out onto the Roma-Milan motorway. And, once again with Bernardo de Sola and Ferran Puig Ing., she has carried out the project of recovering Esblada's historic district (Tarragona).

Angela Gori and Bernardo de Sola have designed as well various urban elements, such as the Modelo column in 2000 (with Pedro Barragán), the Ona marker in 2004, the Ensanche traffic light support, and the Monza traffic light support, edited by Santa & Cole in 2000.
