From 1998 to 2004 he worked at Barcelona City Council s Urban Projects Office. Since then he has worked for the Public Space Office of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, leading a team in projects and works. Montes has given courses, workshops and conferences at COAC (the Society of Architects of Catalonia), the Havana School of Physical Planning and Architecture, the International Velocity Congress, the Forum of Municipalities and Regions of Europe in Brussels, and the School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB - UPC). He has also designed such recognised street furniture as the Fanal Plus street lamp for the city of Barcelona, the Pedra Negra litterbin for Escofet and the Trapecio bench edited by Santa & Cole.
