MACBA Store – Laie

Barcelona, España

Colour and geometry shroud the bookshop of the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA), a space housed within the white cube of the Raval, lending Richard Meier’s iconic building a revamped attractive appearance.

The use of the colour scheme –inspired by a 41-colour Pantone box of crayons gradually combined in constant leaps of colour– and the geometrical shapes –circular and round like those of Antoni Arola’s Cirio Circular lamp– enhance the architectural curves that hitherto went unnoticed. The refurbishment endows Meier’s blank canvas with an artistic brushstroke while conveying a unique, distinguished identity for the new Macba Store Laie.
