Yurikago House

Barcelona, Spain

Designed by Mas-Aqui
Photography by José Hevia

A distinguished object that accompanies indoor and outdoor environments

Projected by Mas-aqui, Casa Yurikago embodies the cultural and multidisciplinary dialogue inherent to this architecture and interior design studio.

A 1924 Barcelona residency that has been completely renovated from the notable deterioration of the original construction.

By visualizing the project as a whole, the space has been unified into a singular set of heights, resulting in a conciliation of tradition and modernity.

Versatile spaces connected with fluidity and a selection of handcrafted materials in neutral shades, bringing homogeneity to the space. New openings give entrance to natural light into the interior. Wood, the main component of the upper floors, surrounds with the warmth of a cradle (translation of the Japanese term yurikago).

The Wally lamps, in delicate symmetry, frame the kitchen and provide a balanced ambient light to the dining room. This piece by Miguel Milá, conceived in the 1960s along with the Cesta family lamps, is distinguished by its delicate metal structure. In matt white or dark bronze, its fine lines wrap around the glass shade.
