RCR Arquitectes is located in Olot, Gerona. The countryside surrounding this small town where the team of architects established itself in 1988 has exerted a fundamental influence on the works of Rafael, Carme and Ramon, moreover acting as their laboratory to study the geology, geography and the strata of human occupation of the La Garrotxa region, inspiring them with the forms of the land, the colours, the textures and the views of the Pyrenean foothills.As can be perceived in most of their buildings, RCR has a preference for small-format, simple and essential buildings, which dialogue with their surroundings, avoiding picturesque, superfluous or rhetorical forms and blending care and force. This special sensitivity in relation to nature explains their position as consultants to the La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Nature Reserve for over fifteen years. Their recognized production includes the recreational area Tussols Basil of Olot, formed by an athletics stadium which took them to the final of the Mies Van de Rohe Award in 2003 and with which they won the FAD Award and the FAD Opinion Award), the nursery Els Colors, which they won the National Culture Award of the Generalitat in 2005 and the Contractworld award in 2006.
