In celebration of the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Miguel Milá designed this robust luminous ring for the new stadium. Its conceptual predecessor can be traced to wrought-iron fixtures designed to hold candles—the iconic image of medieval chandeliers found in palaces and cathedrals.
A tubular structure forms the frame that supports both its inner and outer shades, composed of sections of glass block that diffuse the light beam through subtle vertical plays of light and shadow.With an elegant, commanding presence, Estadio elevates any space.
